A good balcony watering system for a Dubai apartment solves two problems at once: it keeps your pots alive through a 45°C summer, and it does it without water running onto the balcony downstairs — which most UAE buildings restrict. The answer is not a bigger watering can. It is a thin drip line feeding each pot, on a small Wi-Fi timer that waters in exact minutes.
Because it is an apartment, your Wi-Fi router is usually only a few metres from the balcony, so a straightforward 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi timer is the right tool — no wall-piercing radio gateway required. You schedule short, frequent cycles, the water goes only where the drippers point, and drip trays catch anything left over. From there it runs itself, and you can adjust it from your phone whether you are at your desk or on a summer trip home.

Step by step
Set up balcony watering without upsetting the neighbours
A weekend job with no tools and no plumber — here is the order to do it in.

Group your pots into one or two zones
Split them by thirst or by light — e.g. hungry herbs vs hardy succulents, or the sunny rail vs the shaded corner. Two zones is plenty for most balconies.

Run a thin drip line with a tray under each pot
Clip a dripper into every pot and sit pots on drip trays, so nothing overflows onto the balcony below. This is what keeps you on the right side of building rules.

Fit the timer and connect the hub
Hand-tighten the RainPoint onto the balcony tap (3/4" BSP) and connect its hub to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi nearby. No tools, no plumber.

The RainPoint needs your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi within range of the balcony tap, which is normal in an apartment. It is a 2-zone kit at AED 449 — it costs more than the 4-zone Johgee because it bundles a Wi-Fi hub and flow-metering valve hardware, not because it does less. If your tap sits behind thick villa walls instead, the RF timer is the better pick. Compare them side by side.
Balcony watering — common questions
Will a balcony drip timer drip onto the apartment below?
Not if you set it up properly. Use a dripper sized to each pot, sit pots on drip trays, and schedule short bursts of a few minutes rather than long soaks. A timer is actually how you avoid the overflow buildings restrict — it stops the water the moment the minutes are up, unlike a hose left running.
Can herbs really survive a Dubai summer on a balcony?
Yes, if they are watered consistently. In peak summer many pots need water once or twice a day, and the real problem is never missing a day. A timer does that daily watering for you — including while you travel — which is the difference between herbs that last the summer and a row of dead pots in August.
Does the RainPoint need Wi-Fi right at the balcony?
It connects to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and on a balcony the router is usually only 5–10 m away, so that is rarely a problem. If your tap were out past several concrete villa walls we would point you to the RF Johgee instead — but for an apartment balcony, Wi-Fi is the right tool.
Why is the 2-zone RainPoint AED 449 when a 4-zone timer is AED 399?

What if I don't have a proper tap on the balcony?
Many balconies have a tap for the AC drain or for cleaning, and the timer fits a standard 3/4" BSP tap. If you are not sure yours will fit, send us a photo of your tap and we will confirm it before you order.
